SLAVE MARKET

Everyone needs a little help in household work, but only few can count on one. Such a simple tasks as washing, laundry, dusting, cooking and garden care are now supported by different tools, which are helping to do the job easier. But how it was made earlier ? How do people worked without copiers in offices, without computers at desks, tractors on fields, rollers on roads or carts in mines ? Who delivered mail, protected from fire in the night, was responsible for children’s education ? Answers for those and other questions can be found during the Slave Market show, a peculiar antic mixture of shopping center with employment agency. Rebates, special offers, no interest credit - that was known long time ago. There is no better way to get to understand ancient life, than to go to the market. Slave market.

ROMAN COURT

Protection of citizens from injustice and supporting the law is one of the major tasks, the civilized society is expected to be responsible for. Present law resolves civil, financial, employment, traffic, parental, martial and plenty more issues, but how was regulated life in ancient society ? How you had to approach the judge, what was the punishment for drunkards behavior, what did people do with a caught thief, what could be done with a debtor refusing to pay his due ? Roman Court show, presenting typical case judged according to roman law can answer those and many more questions, especially that no one newer knows when and what crime can be charged for. Dura lex sed lex.

ANCIENT MAGIC

Usually located a bit off-the-road, but nevertheless close to main trade squares in the city. Placed in the way to be easily reached, but without betraying ones identity. A little shop full of aromas, herbs and resins. Apotheka.

They come for knowledge accessible only to chosen ones - for the magic. For adequate payment they can buy sorcery papyrus, poison, aphrodisiacs or miracle cures. How to make a woman more keen to ones courtship, how to enrich on races or betting the right gladiator, how to humiliate adversary in the court of justice ? Problems familiar in present times were solved by the magic then.

WEAVING

Do you know, that weavers and dyers collegium was one of the oldest guild in Rome ? These craftsmen proudly originated their rights from the times of King Numa regime. Why weaving and spinning had held such great esteem, that in the Quirinus temple as the relic had been stored first toga woven by the queen Tanakis, although royal times generally had had been in great disrespect among Romans?

Why the republic had chosen for its symbol looms, ceremonial set of which had proudly been exposed at the Interrex house ? Why finally spinning and weaving of wool were the only occupations not to disgrace a free woman of noble house ? The best way to get answer to this question is to visit weaver workshop by yourself.
